Latest Obsession: Balancing Blocks by Fort Standard

These little babies just became available for pre-order and guess who just put an order in? That’s right – SO excited!! Every so often I see something that makes me feel like a kid again and these Balancing Blocks are a great adult toy for design enthusiasts.  I also needed an excuse to order something from Areaware. I’m so looking forward to adding these to my collection. Just waiting for October 15th………

Tailor Stitch: I’m Forever Yours

While I was in San Francisco back in June, (among other things) I also got the chance to visit one of my favorite urban menswear retailers, Taylor Stitch. Located in the bustling Mission district and right next door to my favorite coffee shop, Four Barrel Coffee (which I’ve affectionately refer to as “hipster coffee”), Taylor Stitch is a shop that specializes in locally made, well-crafted shirts. A limited run is made of each style. What I like most about Taylor Stitch shirts is the way their XS size fits me. It’s damn near perfect – not tight, no bunching up, and they are made with high armholes for easy and comfortable sleeve roll-ups.

After I got back to PDX, I showed off my new shirt to David. He was pretty impressed as well and wanted one too. Apparently they’re pretty popular, because we couldn’t find a shirt in David’s size. So when I received an email last week about a limited run of Indian Madras Shirts, I placed an order for both of us. Needless to say, our order came today and I’m very a happy man.

Thanks Taylor Stitch,

~Customers for Life

Why I’ve Been Backlogged: Summer

While on our way to Diane and Michelle’s wedding party, I asked David to snap a pic of me on my new bike. I especially love the basket upgrade. It holds a 6 pack of beer perfectly!

Gotta get back to summer now. Catch you on the flip side!

Awesome Summer = Backlogged Posts

So I’ve been bad. I’ve got about 4 trips/posts that are queued for posting. So far David and I have been to Montreal, NYC, a few BBQs, made some furniture, redecorated and I recently got a new bike. Needless to say, we’ve been spending more time out & about and enjoying Summer! I’ll tell you all about it the next rainy weekend we have ;-)

Meanwhile, instead of Saturday morning breakfast walks to Freddy’s, Wookie and I started doing rides. I think he’s into it.

Remember all that “Post-Materialist” stuff I wrote about?

Well scratch it: My Post-Materialist Summer.  At least for now. Back in May, I made a post entitled “My Latest Tech Obsessions“. Drumroll please: The wait is over and my Amazon.com wishlist finally became a reality.

I’ve been swooning over the TDK 3 Speaker Boombox since I first laid eyes on it. The Apple Time Capsule was long overdue. I’ve been really lucky (knock on wood) flying solo with no back-up  and not having a reliable external hard drive for as long as I’ve had a computer. Not knowing Clarks run about one size bigger, my first pair didn’t fit, so I got finally got a pair that actually fit.

Aaaaaaaaah, now back to that  Post-Materialist Summer stuff I was talking about yesterday.
